ETRMA comments on the REACH regulation simplification
23 April 2025
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) has submitted its official comments to the European Commission as part of the consultation on the simplification of the REACH Regulation.
ETRMA strongly supports the objectives of REACH in protecting human health and the environment but emphasises the need for regulatory coherence, proportionality, and predictability to support industrial competitiveness in Europe. In its submission, ETRMA calls, among others, for the alignment of REACH with existing and upcoming EU legislations and stresses the need to introduce a Regulatory Management Option Analysis (RMOA) framework.
Among the key recommendations are:
- Enhance regulatory coherence and simplification
- Introduce an RMOA framework
- Registration requirements should not be extended to polymers
- Reform the REACH Authorisation process
- Enforce a uniform and continuous level playing field in the EU
