What we do

Tyres and rubber are an enormous part of our everyday lives: moving us and our world forward every single day. From our public and private transport systems that use rubber to move around our towns and cities, safely, comfortably and efficiently to our mobile phones, computers and hospitals. Tyres and rubber are always there to help us do what we need to do, better.

That is why the association’s way of working is centred around exchanging best practices and working in collaboration with policymakers to develop a supportive regulatory environment for consumers, drivers and industry.

ETRMA is here to support this innovative industry and cooperate with the legislators to create an enabling environment that will help the industry achieve the following goals:

  • Promoting the principles of better regulation: ensuring that policymaking is science-based and, once in implementation, effectively enforced;
  • Reinforcing sustainability and competitiveness;
  • Ensuring road and consumer safety;
  • Caring for the environment and its resources;
  • Promoting international cooperation.

The path towards achieving these objectives depends on collaboration, which is in our DNA. Therefore, our work is centred around exchanging best practices and working in collaboration with policymakers to develop a supportive regulatory environment for consumers, drivers and industry is at the centre of what we do. This also means being a multiplier of national initiatives in the industry, particularly those related to road safety which speak directly to drivers and consumers.

ETRMA contributes meaningfully to the legislative developments and anticipates the impact of future initiatives on the industry, through recognised scientific research.

We will continue to support the industry in becoming an even more innovative, competitive, responsible and sustainable sector across Europe.
