European replacement tyre sales continue negative trend in last quarter of 2023
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) published its European replacement tyres sales for the fourth quarter of 2023.
Sales declined in all market segments except in consumer tyres, where the winter weather conditions have boosted the volumes of all-season and winter tires.
Looking at the annual picture, every product category has seen a negative trend in 2023 compared to 2022. The most impacted segments were replacement agricultural tyres (-30%), followed by truck and bus tyres (-17%), moto (-11%) and consumer tyres (-8%).
“The figures confirm the negative trends observed since June 2022”, said Adam McCarthy, ETRMA’s Secretary General. “These results are mainly due to a drop in the demand driven by the inflationary costs of raw materials, energy and payroll, as well as to the reduction of inventories in distribution channels”.
